YouTube and Google: An SEO Match Made in Digital Marketing Heaven

Getting your business noticed online can be challenging. These days, it’s not uncommon to find yourself barely treading water in an endless sea of content created by multitudes of companies vying for the top SEO positions on Google. You may ask yourself, “How can I increase my lead outreach” or “how can I expand my online presence?” While there are multiple ways to generate leads by engagement, one surefire trend is through video.

Video is engaging, captures the attention of an audience with an otherwise non-existent attention span, and has the added benefit of being favored by just about every feed algorithm that matters right now (including the Big G - Google.) Nicholas Jackson of The Atlantic states that Video, because it's so much different than text or anything else that people are currently creating, offers new possibilities. Nobody has demonstrated that more than YouTube, which has incorporated pre-roll video advertising, brand partner programs, promoted content and more.

And The Winner Is…..

While there are multiple outlets to choose from, polls suggest that one platform stands out above the rest.

That platform…is YouTube.

Since it’s public launch in December of 2005, YouTube has been the go-to video platform.  As of 2021, YouTube has a reach of 2.3 billion users, with the US coming in as the second largest country using the platform (1.97 Million last year.) Whether you’re searching for informational videos on how to repair your car, video reviews of products and services, funny videos of a cat barking like a dog, or everything in between, chances are you’ll find it on YouTube.

Why Does This Matter?

In October 2006, Google acquired YouTube, creating a huge opportunity for business exposure on the number two search engine on the internet. With combined efforts by both companies, SEO and overall brand presence on the channel can potentially improve both your inbound marketing and your customer-driven conversations and engagement. According to Hubspot, “YouTube allows marketers to present unique content that's easy for viewers to consume and share.”
